Mid century rattan / bamboo highboy / tallboy, chest of drawers by Angraves, England, 1970s This is a beautiful, light brown in colour rattan Tallboy. Made by English company ‘Angraves’ of Brook St, Leicester, part of their “Invincible” range. The tallboy / chest of drawers has 6 drawers with cane handles, and is covered in cane weave matting, it also has a glass top, which is surrounded by a gallery. Makers label on reverse. Angraves of Leicester manufactured high class cane furniture in Britain for almost a century. From 1912 through to 2011, when the company along with its highly skilled craftsmen were bought out by Soane Britain, who still today produce some of the most beautiful rattan furniture. Angraves were the leading suppliers to many high end Hotel groups, Restaurants and Shipping Lines. The designs are timeless and Classic, and the quality of the materials and craftsmanship are superb.
