Charles Dudouyt created these carved armchairs as 'fireside' chairs, hence the low seats. Beautifully carved in oak. Using playful geometries and construction, he crafted the wooden structure in Art Deco forms. The seats' original straw is preserved and creates a charming contrast with the dark wooden structure. The legs are joined by crosspieces. Dudouyt enriched the typical French straw chair with a timeless design like Charlotte Perriand did in her furniture.

Charles Dudouyt (1885-1946) started his career as a woodworker, learning crafting art from his father. He innovated the Art Deco and Modernist eras with his creative approach to furniture design. After studying at the École Boulle in Paris, he honed his skills as a furniture designer. He focused on natural materials, carving them in simple, geometric forms and incorporating decorative elements or carved details.

Our atelier carefully restored the chairs. Slight signs of use and time.
