A striking pair of large abstract works by British-American artist Richard Hall (b. 1952), featuring beautifully balanced geometric compositions in a sophisticated palette of soft mauve, lavender, dusty pink, pale blue, teal, charcoal and warm neutral tones.

The compositions are built from an intriguing combination of architectural geometric forms, sweeping curves, intersecting lines and blocks of colour, creating a distinctly late 20th-century aesthetic with strong Postmodern and Art Deco influences.

What makes these works particularly attractive is their richly textured appearance. The compositions appear to combine a lithographic or printed base with mixed-media surface treatments and metallic gilt or gold-leaf embellishments. The gold-coloured details catch the light beautifully and add depth and luminosity to the otherwise soft, muted colour palette.
