A striking pair of vintage side tables by Kneip, featuring highly decorative mixed-media tops and contrasting dark architectural bases.

Each square tabletop is individually composed with an abstract mosaic-like arrangement of richly textured materials in earthy shades of brown, bronze, ochre, olive green and terracotta. Geometric sections are combined with curved accents and small circular decorative elements, creating an almost Brutalist, archaeological or abstract modernist composition.

The substantial tops have softly rounded corners and sit on bold black pedestal bases with rounded vertical detailing. The contrast between the intricate, highly textured surfaces and the restrained dark bases gives these tables a particularly strong sculptural presence.

Although designed as a pair, the decoration of each top varies slightly, making every table unique while maintaining a cohesive overall design. Ideal beside a sofa or lounge chairs, or used as sculptural end tables in a Brutalist, eclectic or mid-century inspired interior.
